And All Was Right
with
the World

With this morning’s execution of
the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, all that is good and decent
in the world prevailed.
Terrorism and tyrannical oppression are a thing of the past.
Violence in Iraq has ended.
No one will consider Saddam Hussein a martyr.
A car bomb in Kufa, Iraq did not kill at least 30 people today, nor injure
45 others.
A car bomb in Baghdad did not kill at least 36 people today, nor injure
70 others.
A car bomb did not blow up a terminal of the Madrid International Airport
in Spain today.
A fifteen-year-old civil war between government forces and Islamic militants
did not rage on in Somalia today.
There will be no violence on New Year’s Eve.
Three thousand American soldiers thought lost in battle unexpectedly returned home today.
Over a hundred thousand Iraqis did, as well.
At last, we can sleep peacefully, confident in the fact that no one
hates America or would ever wish us harm again.
All is right with the world.
